The village development plan lists its municipal services as snow removal, ditch mowing, police, fire and general maintenance, so water and sewer are not among them. The land use bylaw does not allow residential development without a potable water supply, and an RV kept on a developed lot must be connected to onsite water and wastewater systems.
Sewage Bylaw 05-10 requires an approved private sewage system on every property used for residential, recreational or commercial purposes, out of concern for the water quality of Skeleton Lake. Building, plumbing, gas and private sewage permits in the village go through The Inspections Group. In the 2021 census, 57 of the 177 private dwellings in Mewatha Beach were someone's usual home.
Private sewage systems are required here and water service is not on the village list, so septic pump-outs and water systems come first, with heating, gas fitting and everyday plumbing right behind.

Apex Utilities Inc., formerly AltaGas Utilities, holds the natural gas franchise for the summer village, according to Apex's franchise fee schedule filed with the Alberta Utilities Commission. If you smell gas, leave the building and call 911 and Apex from outside. Once it is safe, Royal Flush can repair gas lines, furnaces and heaters.
